The Body Soul and Spirit (BSS) Women partnered with Graced Circle health initiatives to offer free cervical cancer screenings to around 100 women.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable types of cancer, largely thanks to early detection through screenings and the HPV vaccine. The main culprit behind this cancer is the human papilloma virus (HPV), which spreads through sexual contact. That’s why regular cervical screenings, like Pap smears, are so important—they can catch abnormal changes in the cervix before they turn into cancer.

In the early stages, cervical cancer often doesn’t show any symptoms, which makes screening essential. When detected early, it’s highly treatable, and the survival rates are much better. All sexually active women aged 25 to 65 should prioritize these screenings. On October 1, 2024, the Body Soul and Spirit (BSS) Women partnered with Graced Circle health initiatives to offer free cervical cancer screenings to around 100 women. The BSS team did an amazing job organizing the event, ensuring that everyone moved smoothly
in and out of the screening rooms.

Throughout the day, we provided health education to inform women about cervical cancer—its risks, causes, treatment options, and what they could expect during the screening process. We also made sure that every participant understood the importance of consent, with strict measures in place to protect privacy and confidentiality.

One suspected cases was identified and referred to teaching hospital for further evaluation. Overall, it was a successful event, and we’re proud to have contributed to the health and wellness of our community.
